As you continue down the hallway, you find yourself standing before a wooden door with the brass head of a lion. A full mane curls around its snarling face, and amber gems wink from its sockets. Held captive in its maw is a snake swallowing its own tail.

That’s odd, you think, certain that this door wasn’t here the last time you walked down this corridor. You raise the ring and rap it against the door three times, but nothing happens. Disappointed, you start to turn away when you notice the snake open a slit-pupiled eye. You pull a coin out of your pocket and offer it to the snake, which releases its tail and opens its jaws to accept your offering. As it swallows, the door swings open and warm air flows out, bringing with it a swirl of sand and cat-feathers.

You step inside and find yourself in a small room that is cluttered with packing supplies. Moonlight is flooding in the open window, illuminating shelves cluttered with stamps, boxes, wrapping paper and rolls of tape. Parcels wrapped in brown string are piled on the table, along with a messenger satchel stuffed with letter and postcards. A sleepy cat glances up at you from a cushion and gives a soft chirp of delight at your presence. You’ve found your way into the Cat Corner!
